Komen Race for the Cure

Thank you to all who came out to support the fight against breast cancer at the 15th annual Susan G. Komen Tulsa Race for the Cure. This year was a year of milestones for the Komen Tulsa Race. We successfully moved to our new home at ONEOK Field and raised breast cancer awareness in high-risk zip codes, evidenced by the fact that 80% of Doctors for the Cure scholarship recipients reported living in the very zip codes that prompted the Race to move downtown. In addition to making strides in mission, Race participants laced up and fundraised a staggering $450,00, the most donations raised by individuals and Teams in the 15 year history of the Race! Sponsorships also increased by 40%, showing once again that Tulsa corporations and businesses stand armed and ready to strike down this deadly disease. Altogether, the 2011 Race generated $950,000 to fund vital local screening, treatment and education programs as well as fuel national scientific research. Thank you to all who participated in the Race this year!

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the largest 5k series in the world. The Komen Tulsa Race boasts over 12,000 participants in three events; the Timed 5k, Untimed 5k, and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. Registration will open June 1, 2012. Fees include the offical Komen Race for the Cure T-shirt, Race bib and, if registered before September 6, packet mailing. Our 5k and 1-mile participants will enjoy a scenic run/walk through downtown Tulsa and the Brady Theater District.
