Rally for the Cure making an Impact

March 30, 2011

Rally for the Cure® is about people who are committed to making an impact in the fight against breast cancer. Rally is an awareness program that provides a simple platform for people to educate their friends, family and community about breast health and breast cancer. Our volunteer-organized golf, tennis and social events have communicated the important message that early detection saves lives to over 1.65 million people and have generated over $50 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure® since 1996.

Select A Date and Activity

Rally can be incorporated into an existing event or you can design an event around the breast cancer awareness theme. Many chose to Rally through golf or tennis. The program is easily adaptable to other activities as well, such as bridge, bunco, mahjong and other fitness pursuits like yoga, spinning and swimming.

Invite Participants, Collect Entry Fees

Each participant pays a $20 entry fee (non-tax-deductible) for a chance to win a grand prize, receive event favors, breast health information and a subscription to a select Condé Nast magazine.

Rally provides all the materials to support the event including event decorations, a prize, participant goody bags, pink ribbon pins and other breast cancer awareness items.

Volunteer "Ambassadors" plan and host the events locally. Event Coordinators at Rally Headquarters act as a virtual event support staff. They provide everything to run the event and are available by phone to talk through the specifics, offer event suggestions and/or answer questions.

Role of the Rally Ambassador

The Rally Ambassador is the volunteer chairperson who organizes the event. They are the liaison between Rally Headquarters and his/her group. The primary role of the Ambassador is to rally their friends, family, or commu- nity and spread the awareness message. In addition, the Ambassador promotes their event, collects entry fees, selects prize(s) and returns post-event paperwork to Rally Headquarters.
